Energy and Efficiency Audit Program

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor-Energy Group had designed an energy audit program to help Indiana businesses, schools and organizations reduce energy costs through improved energy efficiency.

Design-Aire Engineering Inc. has been the only approved State Contractor to implement the Indiana Energy and Efficiency Audit Program for the Office of the Lieutenant Governor-Energy Group.

Energy audits usually uncover energy savings from 10-40%.

Most energy conservation measures have a payback of less than 2 years. A Design-Aire Engineering Inc. audit analyzes and provides recommendations on occupant health and comfort as well as energy-savings and efficiency.

Design-Aire Engineering Inc. works in conjunction with Purdue's CMTI Institute to evaluate:

  • Material efficiency of manufacturing process
  • Waste minimization options and recommendations for recycling waste streams
  • Suggestions for use of recycled content materials in manufacturing process
  • Suggestions for use of less hazardous materials in manufacturing process

The State of Indiana offers zero percent interest loans, up to $100,000 to schools, libraries and city and county governments, for energy conservation projects. Repayment of the loan is tied to energy conservation and repaid through reduced energy costs.

This is a cost-share program between each business, school system or organization and the state of Indiana, whereby the state of Indiana will pay 50% of the audit cost up to $15,000 for non-public organizations and the first $15,000 for public facilities. One application per organization is sufficient.
